What are Ocean Freight Services?
Ocean freight moves commercial cargo between international ports by container vessel or specialized ship. For Canadian businesses, it is often the most practical mode for larger volumes, heavier cargo and replenishment programs where cost per unit matters more than the shortest possible transit. Nuvotrade coordinates the international leg together with origin handling, documentation, customs coordination and final delivery where required.
SERVICE TYPES
Which option is right for you?
Full Container Load (FCL)
Dedicated 20ft or 40ft containers for larger shipments, with fewer handling points and greater control over your cargo. Good for: Bulk importers, manufacturers, and distributors shipping full pallets or large-volume orders.
Less-than-Container Load
Consolidated shipping for smaller commercial shipments with compatible freight, so you pay only for the space you use instead of an entire container. Good for: Small businesses, startups, and importers with lower-volume or irregular shipment needs.
Breakbulk & Project Cargo
Planning for machinery and oversized cargo that cannot be efficiently transported in standard containers and requires specialized handling and inland equipment. Good for: Industrial, construction, and heavy equipment importers/exporters.
Temperature-Controlled
Reefer-container solutions for cargo that require defined temperature parameters, with the right routing and equipment. Good for: Food and beverage, agri-food, and pharmaceutical importers/exporters.
Hazardous & Dangerous
Freight options for approved hazardous cargo, with classification, packaging, labelling, and documentation coordinated under the IMDG Code and TDG regulations. Good for: Manufacturers and distributors shipping chemicals, lithium batteries, flammable liquids and oxidizers.

how it works
How Nuvotrade manages Ocean Freight.

Shipment Review
We review cargo details, Incoterms, origin, destination and required delivery window, then identify suitable sailings and service options.

Booking & Origin Coordination
Space is booked and pickup or supplier delivery is coordinated against the carrier cut-off and terminal requirements.

Documentation & Export Handling
Commercial and transport information is checked early so the Bill of Lading and export requirements can be prepared before departure.

Port Handling
Cargo is delivered to the terminal or consolidation facility, loaded for the booked sailing and confirmed once the vessel departs.

Arrival & Customs Coordination
Pre-arrival details are coordinated with customs parties to support timely clearance, release and delivery.

Final
Delivery
Once released, the container or consolidated cargo is scheduled for delivery to the consignee, warehouse or agreed destination.
OUR ADVANTAGE
